What is a Role Playing Game?

Role playing games are games where people imagine they are characters. The characters can be anything from animals to people. The settings for the games can be anything from realistic to imaginary.

In a "literate" role playing game, you interact with other players by writing your own scenes and interaction. The writing is done in forums for each activity. Players judge each other by what they write and how well they write it.

There are four levels of role playing games. The levels are based on how serious the layers are about the writing in the game

Just for Fun This level of game is not very serious. It is about having fun.
Basic At this level players are expected to write at least 100 words in each posting
Intermediate At this level players are expected to write between 100 and 300 words in each posting and use good grammer.
Advanced At this level players are expected to use at least 300 words in each posting and have great compositions and grammer.

Starting and Joining a Game

Each role playing game is started by a player. Anyone can start a free game. Free games are limited to 16 members. Premium Players can have games with up to 256 players. Any player can apply to join any type game.

To apply to join a game, search and find a game that looks interesting to you. Then from the front page of that game click on the link that says Apply to Join. The people who run the game can select you to join the game. (or they could turn you down).

Games have three kinds of members:
Owner is the person who created the game.
Adminstrators These are people who have been set up by the game owner to help run the game.
Members These are people who play this particular role playing game.

Game adminstrators can change the design and organization of the game. They can add new Activities and Information Pages. They also can admit new members who apply to join the game.

If a game's owner stops being a premium player, the game will not be deleted, but will be "frozen". If a game is frozen it cannot be updated until the player renews their premium status.

At this time each premium player can only start one game. In the future we may allow premium players to start more than one game with an extra subscription.

Characters

Characters are created by players of each game. The characters may be created in advance by the person who starts the game or each member may make up their own character. For a characters to be used in the game it first must be Approved by a game adminstrator. Characters can be transfered to different members by making them available. Then other players can claim the character.

Money - Coins

Players in Bzuzu and Horseland share the same ingame money called Coins. They are sometimes represented by this symbol in the game:. There are no uses at this time for coins in Bzuzu, but you can use your coins in the Horseland Game. You buy and sell many things in the Horseland Game with Coins: horses, dogs, feed, vet and farrier fees, show entry fees, clothes and tack.

There are two major ways to get Coins. You can earn them by playing fun games, or you can purchase packs of Coins from Horseland with real money. Click on the symbol on the top right navigation to learn more.

Once you've been playing for a while, there are several other ways to make Coins.

You can make Coins by selling horses. Just like in real life, you can buy a horse at a low price, and after some showing and training, sell it again at a higher price.

You can make Coins by hosting shows. Every player can start 1 show a week. Other players have to pay an entry fee when they sign up for classes and you get the entry fees! So the more people that enter your show, the more Coins you get!

Finally, you can earn Coins by boarding other players' horses in your Stable. When you offer boarding, you must feed all the horses in your Stable. So your weekly boarding fee should be high enough so you can buy food. Just like in real life, you can try to advertise your Stables in the Forums and Talk boards to get more people to come to your Stables.

Please remember that Horseland Coins have no real world value and can only be used to purchase services provided directly by Horseland LLC. Any act of trading/selling and/or unauthorized/fraudulent charging is in direct violation of the Terms of Use and all violators will be subject to immediate account termination. Always ask permission from your parent or guardian before you buy Coins. If you don't, and the payment is later canceled or declined, you will be permanently banned. Horseland Coins are non-refundable.

Home Page Descriptions

Decorating your Home Page

Basic Players and Premium Players can decorate their home pages. To customize your home page you have to enter some HTML and text in the description box for your home page and click the Save Changes button.

HTML is a special code that make words and graphics appear the way you want on the Web.

The first thing to try is to change the way some text appears:

To change the font size, type
<fontsize="3">
By changing the number, you will change the font size.

You must type
</font>
at the end of the text that you want to be the new size to end the new font.

To change the font color, type
<font color="green">
That will make the text following that statement green. You can play around with different color names. Again, don't forget to end the section of colored text with
</font>
To post a picture, you need to know the URL (internet address) of the picture.
Then type
<img src="http://www.myhomepage.com/horsepic.gif">

Of course, put the actual URL for the picture in instead of
http://www.myhomepage.com/horsepic.gif.

Here are some additional rules and tips for your homepage:
1. We do not allow remote style sheets (these are style sheets located on other computers). You can still use style tags and CSS located within your home page.

2. Make sure to use the correct (long) url for links. This applies to Horseland pages also.
For example: instead of "/vownersd.hl?id=1234"
use "http://www.horseland.com/vownersd.hl?id=1234"

3. Don't use HTML comments.

4. We do not allow layouts that cover up the ads or navigation at the top of the page. If you have a cover-up layout, please remove it. We will give warnings to those who do not remove them, then they will be cleared by staff.
